To modify/hack iPods, it is very important to know

1. What iPod you are using
2. If the iPod you have is hackable*
3. What firmware version it is
4. Hacking an iPod might not work the first time

iPods that are NOT hackable:

• iPod nano 2nd generation
• iPod nano 3rd generation
• iPod Classic 6th generation
• ipod Shuffle Any generation

Reminder you cannot hack these iPods.

iPods that ARE hackable

• iPod video 5th generation and 5.5 generation (Scroll down to find out which one you have)

A fast way to find out what generation your iPod video is (Either a 5th or a 5.5 generation iPod) follow these steps:

1. Hold the menu button until you go back to the iPod’s main screen
2. Select the music option
3. Scroll down to the bottom

If you have the Search > option, you have a 5.5G iPod video if not you own a 5G
